Atlantis At Last
We cover a lot of parties here at Groovetickets, so it goes without saying that we've seen loads of weirdo party themes come cruising across our desk/inbox, ranging from “Roman orgy” to “Felix The Cat” to “interplanetary mushroom farmer” (seriously). But up till now no savvy promoters have cracked into the lucrative Atlantis market, so big props to PlurLife.com and Motive Media for being the first, with their sure-to-be-splendid The Lost City Of Atlantis bash on Saturday, November 29th at The Hudson & Gotham Theater in San Bernardino, CA. Doors open at nine PM and stay open until five AM, so that gives you (and the other 5000 all ages Atlantis aficionados) plenty of time to explore the five massive, banging, techno-soaked nooks and crannies of this mythical, vanished continent. Prepare to get wet.

Turkey And Guns And Bombs
A lotta America probably thinks of Thanksgiving in terms of big roasted birds, family gathered around the table, drowsily drifting to sleep in front of a football game on the tube, etc. We're here to talk about the OTHER America. The one where Thanksgiving means one extra day off from work/the grind to recover from passionate holiday night owl partying. Which one are you? We'll assume if you're reading this deep you're in the latter, so congrats on that. Radical LA dance visionaries Nitrus are teaming with Hard to present Turkey Soup, an epic beat happening on Wednesday, November 26th at the famous Roxy on Sunset, starring up-and-coming electronic heroes like Guns ‘N' Bombs, Don Rimini, Destructo, Marshall Barnes, Aaron Lacrate, plus live visuals by Collabo. This Turkey is all ages and rages for a solid five hours. Come dance yourself into a pre-tryptophan coma.

Sing The Body Electronic

In spite of the smog, in spite of the traffic, in spite of the billboards covering every square inch of our fair city, we Los Angelenos are all very lucky individuals. This is something we ought not to lose sight of so easily. As a haven for drifters, creative types, party animals, and fame-lovers we get the lion's share of the planet's massive celebrations, and yet another example of this is being manifested on Saturday, November 22nd, when Iguanas Entertainment Inc. blasts off its straightforwardly titled Electronic Music Festival 2008 bash into the night sky. It's going down at the Hudson Theater and Gotham in San Bernardino, CA, and doors open at seven PM and close at six AM, which allows you to get home in time to splash some water in your face and dash off to Sunday morning church (JK, JK). The line-up for this insanity looks like a New Year's Eve party: get in on this electric action STAT.

The Maximus Machine
That old kite-flying lunatic Benjamin Franklin once said that there's nothing in life you can count on except for death and taxes (bleak guy, right?). Well, that may be true, but he left out a third thing: off-the-flipping-hook New Year's Eve parties by GIANT. Every 365 days, without fail, they drop a bomb right on December 31st (this year it's on a Wednesday), and the citizens of Los Angeles dance and sing in the streets. Literally. Naturally, it's happening again. The 2008 installment comes decked out in a dope line-up (Moby, Farina, etc) with a circus, fancy VIP options, and a very affordable price tag. The celebration sprawls for eight hours and holds ten thousand shiny happy people inside. GIANT Maximus powers ever onwards. Rave against the machine.

Party Mardi
Any old fool with a floppy hat and fifty dollars to burn can catapult themselves to the top of the party heap, but only true champs can organize a celebration worthy of comparison to that famed Deep South hayride in the sky, Mardi Gras. And the annual smash-up masterminded by AMS, Mardi Gras Masquerade, is one of the few deserving of such meritorious praise. The 2009 edition is taking place Saturday, February 7th at the Hudson and Gotham Theaters in San Bernardino, CA, and it's AMS' fifth annual pass through this terrain, so obviously they're veterans at this point. Expect mass distribution of beads (ten thousand will be given away!), four freaky areas of music, an endless sea of masks, and ten dense hours of all-ages hedonistic revelry. Count the daze.
